DARFUR
In partnership with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, War Child Canada is supporting a vocational training project in West Darfur. The project, which is based in IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camps like the one you can see in this photo gallery, focuses on providing skills training and psychosocial support to children and youth living in IDP camps in the area. The young IDPs featured in these photos are trained in such skills as masonry and food conservation, skills that strengthen their livelihood opportunities both in the camps and in their home villages once they return. Furthermore, these children are engaged in literacy and recreational programs and benefit from a community-based program to provide them with training on the growing problems of gender-based violence and HIV/AIDS transmission within the camps.
