DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
War Child Canada in partnership with the Free Methodist Church of Congo (FMCC) is working to reconstruct and rehabilitate schools in Congo that were severely damaged or destroyed during the war, such as The Kaseke School in this gallery. The students of The Kaseke School, who are pictured here learning, playing, laughing and singing in their reconstructed classrooms, are also provided with desks, benches, chalkboards and books, of which many are locally made. Besides school rehabilitation, War Child also builds the capacity of teachers and is supporting the formation of youth clubs in schools. Provisions are made to reintegrate former child combatants and other war-affected youth, including girl-mothers, back into the education system.
