RAISE FUNDS
By raising funds you can make a difference in the lives of war-affected children around the world. It’s much easier than you think!
Online Donations This year, for the first time ever, you can create your own personal, online Keep The Beat donations page for your event at keepthebeat.ca! Through the site, your friends and family from all over the world can donate directly to your campaign. Start off by setting your own personal fundraising goal, and track your progress as you go!
Using the online pledging system is quick and easy:
- Register your event online and create you own event page
- Send emails to your family and friends via our website, asking for their support
- Sign in and check out your individual page to monitor your fundraising progress!
Pledges If you want to raise pledges for your event but don’t have access to the online pledging system, you can use the Participant Pledge Form. Before your event, photocopy and distribute the Pledge Form to participants, and let them know that they can accept cash or cheques made payable to War Child Canada. All funds should be collected at the time of pledging. On the day of your event, collect all pledge forms along with the funds raised. Complete the Master Fund Form, making sure that the total amount on that form matches the amount you are submitting to War Child Canada.
Admission Fee If your Keep The Beat is a group event, such as a concert, dance, performance or competition, you can raise funds by charging an admission fee or setting up a donations box at your event. You can also find a way to combine admission fees, pledge forms and online donations so participants can choose the option that is most convenient for them.
Sending your funds to War Child Canada If you raise funds by any means other than using the online donations system, please convert all cash to a cheque or money order payable to War Child Canada. Then, send in all funds, pledge forms (if applicable) and the completed Master Fund Form to:
War Child Canada Attn: Keep The Beat 401 Richmond Street West, Suite 204 Toronto, Ontario M5V 3A8
Please be sure to send your funds in promptly, as personal cheques expire after 6 months!
Issuing Tax Receipts Charities are only able to issue tax receipts to individuals or organizations that make a donation without receiving anything in return. For that reason, purchases of raffle tickets, admission, auction items, or merchandise you sell at your event are not eligible for a tax receipt.
Tax receipts will automatically be issued for pledges of $10 or more. Be sure to provide the full name, address, and telephone number of every individual who donates over $10. Those pledging using the online system will immediately receive an electronic tax receipt.
How much money actually goes towards helping war-affected children? War Child Canada depends on donations. Most of our revenue is comprised of individual donations and more than 90 cents out of every dollar goes directly to our charitable programs. For some urgent relief projects, 100% of funds have gone to those who need it most. War Child Canada strives to maintain the highest level of accountability, transparency and effectiveness in all our efforts.
