MAKE IT HAPPEN!
There are tons of creative ways to Keep The Beat in your school. BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN– depending on your school’s schedule and resources, you can plan events during your lunch hour or students can make a small donation to attend Keep The Beat activities during class time (with permission, of course!)
Explaining Keep The Beat to your school’s administration
If you need help getting your school’s administration on board for your Keep The Beat event, download a letter of support to give them more information about why your school should get involved with Keep The Beat. It is also important that you work with a teacher supervisor when organizing your event, and provide that teacher’s name on your registration form. Additionally, be sure to get permission regarding promotion, venue booking and scheduling of your event from the appropriate authorities every step of the way!
Register your event
Promote your event
- When you register your event, War Child Canada will send you a package full of promotional materials including posters, postcards, fact sheets, stickers, articles and more
- If you develop any additional promotional or communications material using War Child Canada’s name or logo to promote your Keep The Beat event, you must contact War Child Canada for approval prior to use. You can do this by emailing a digital version of your promotional materials to keepthebeat@warchild.ca, and War Child Canada will respond with feedback as soon as possible.
- When promoting your event, please make it clear to potential participants that this is not an official or affiliated War Child Canada event, but an independently-organized fundraiser in support of War Child Canada.
- Let all participants know that the money raised through your event will benefit War Child Canada’s international humanitarian projects
If you need to use a portion of the proceeds to cover minimal costs of running the event, clearly explain this to participants and notify War Child Canada on your registration form.
Raise funds
Raise awareness
- During your event, you can distribute information or tell participants and attendees about War Child Canada’s international programs and about the realities facing civilians in conflict zones around the world
- Some useful tools for raising awareness are available here
Take photos
- While everyone is busy keeping the beat at your event, why not take some photos to share with other Keep The Beat groups?
- Please send your photos to alyson@warchild.ca
- War Child Canada will select the top 10 photos submitted and they will be included on the Keep The Beat website and in next year’s Keep The Beat Leaders’ Manual
Send in your funds
If you are not raising funds online, send in all funds, pledges and the completed Master Fund Form to:
